I eat smoothies almost every day for breakfast in the summer. Once the weather cools off I want a warm breakfast, but I want to enjoy a tropical carrot turmeric smoothie as long as I can! I keep steamed carrots in my refrigerator just so I can make these smoothies whenever I want. The ingredients are simple, but the combination of them is amazing, and I love the color that the carrots and turmeric give the smoothies.
When I’m blending smoothies for Kevin and I in the morning, I tend to use all the same ingredients and the same flavor combination. That’s not a bad thing; we do know what we like, but sometimes you just want to mix it up! You can’t even taste the carrots in this smoothie; it tastes tropical and delicous thanks to the frozen mango and pineapple blended with the banana and orange juice. I used two large steamed carrots in this recipe, but you could certainly add more and not even notice the addition! I highly recommend using a high speed blender like a Vitamix for these smoothies. Not only will you get a creamier and smoother consistency in your smoothie, but it will make sure all the carrots are blended well. I love carrots, but I don’t want huge chunks of them in my morning smoothie.
I used my favorite vanilla protein powder in these tropical carrot turmeric smoothies. You can use whatever protein powder you like, or leave it out altogether. I use protein powder in my smoothies, like this carrot turmeric smoothie, because it helps keep me full longer. If I’m having a smoothie for a snack I may not need the protein powder, but if I’m having a smoothie for breakfast and want to stay full until lunch, protein powder is a must. I especially love this smoothie for breakfast because turmeric has natural anti-inflammatory properties, which is perfect after my morning workout.
