The Best Green Smoothie

There are a lot of green smoothie recipes out there on the internet, and when a smoothie is easy enough to whip up without one, you may wonder why you even need a recipe. After making green smoothies for my kids for years, this is the one they have deemed the best green smoothie by affectionally calling them “monster smoothies.” Just a few ingredients give you a delicious and healthy option for breakfast or a snack anytime of day.

I love having a pretty green color when I make green smoothies, and keeping the main ingredients to spinach, frozen pineapple, and frozen mango gives you that tropical flavor with a pretty green. To get some berry flavor and a boost of probiotics, I add strawberry kefir. I started drinking kefir a few years ago and adding it to smoothies and I love the creamy texture and flavor that it gives. Not to mention the health benefits from the natural probiotics and extra protein since kefir contains more protein than yogurt.

My kids are good eaters, but they’re not exactly diving into a spinach salad and I want to get extra veggies in wherever I can. My tropical carrot turmeric smoothie and these green smoothies are my two go-to options. I make them to go with their breakfast or as an afternoon snack at least a few times a week! With my husband working from home right now, I’ll make an extra large batch for all five of us to enjoy. The Best Green Smoothie
Cuisine: Smoothie
Prep time:  5 mins
Total time:  5 mins
Serves: 2 large or 4 small smoothies
 
Ingredients
  • 1 heaping cup frozen pineapple
  • 1 heaping cup frozen mango
  • 1 banana
  • 4 big handfuls of spinach
  • ¾ cup English cucumber slices (about ⅓ of the cucumber)
  • Juice of ½ a lime
  • 1 cup strawberry kefir
  • 1 cup almond milk
Instructions
  1. Place all the ingredients in a high-speed blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Pour into glasses and enjoy immediately!
