My favorite easy appetizer is a big cheese board. Add in some crackers, fruit, nuts, and maybe some salami and you’ve got a snacking board that everyone will love. The only danger is filling up on your cheese board before a big meal! Sometimes I serve “snack dinner” and we enjoy a big cheese and meat platter, open a bottle of wine, and enjoy a sunny weekend. This lemon and herb goat cheese is perfect by itself, but also a great addition to a cheese board.
This lemon and herb goat cheese couldn’t be easier to make. I buy my goat cheese from Costco because you get two huge logs of goat cheese for a great price! Then I make a mixture of freshly ground pepper, fresh herbs, and lemon zest to press onto the outside of the goat cheese. That’s it! You can use whatever herbs you like, but since I grow thyme, rosemary, and oregano in my garden that’s what I used. Serve alongside your favorite crackers for an easy appetizer! Trader Joe’s has my favorite selection of crackers for cheese boards, and other meats, cheeses, dried fruits, and nuts if you’re looking to supplement your cheese board.
If you’re looking ahead to Thanksgiving or Christmas appetizers, some fresh sage would be a great addition to the herbs on this lemon and herb goat cheese! It’s easy and perfect for entertaining any time of year.

- ½ tbsp. freshly ground black pepper
