Tomorrow is St. Patrick’s Day which calls for all things green! I’ve always loved a shamrock shake and I wanted to create a healthy version of that for my kids and I to enjoy. We love my green monster smoothies, and I knew that another green drink would be right up their alley. Enter these healthy shamrock shakes! This recipe makes two servings but can easily be split between three kid-sized servings or doubled for the whole family to enjoy. Here’s what you need to make your own healthy treat:
Healthy Shamrock Shake Ingredients:
- Frozen bananas
- Unsweetened vanilla almond milk (any milk will work but I like the creaminess of almond milk in smoothies and the vanilla flavor)
- Lots of fresh spinach for that signature green color
- Plain full-fat Greek yogurt for creaminess
- Vanilla extract
- Mint extract
- Ice
- You can add vanilla protein powder for an added protein boost if you want but it’s completely optional
- Coconut whipped cream, sprinkles, and a maraschino cherry are also optional toppings
To make your healthy shamrock shakes, simply blend all the ingredients together! It’s important that your bananas are frozen because along with the ice they are the only frozen ingredients in this recipe. If your bananas aren’t frozen it’ll still taste delicious, you just won’t have as creamy of a texture. I hope you and your family enjoy this festive milkshake!
