One thing I've noticed that's made a hugely positive impact on my health is increasing the protein and fiber in my diet. I've noticed that if I start the day with a protein-packed breakfast, I make healthier choices throughout the day and am more likely to stay full until my next meal. The problem is that I do have a sweet tooth, and it's tempting sometimes to want to pull out a bowl of sugary cereal or sweetened oatmeal. With five kids, our school mornings are busy. I wake up hours before my ... continue reading...
Creamy Wild Rice and Mushroom Soup
Over the next few days we are going to have the coldest weather we've had all winter, which means I plan to make lots of cozy soups. We have had a few favorite pasta recipes over the years, but I really wanted to commit to making the best ever baked ziti. A pasta recipe we love from a cookbook uses sundried tomatoes and balsamic vinegar in the sauce and those two things really take this recipe to the next level. With a hearty meat sauce, creamy ricotta filling, and a whole pound of noodles, this is a recipe to make for so ... continue reading...
