Let's talk about breakfast. While I don't doubt it's the most important meal of the day, especially for those kiddos heading off to school, it's sometimes the most challenging to get together. Right now, our kids are too young for school and thankfully it's not too difficult to ensure the boys are starting the day with something healthy. As the years fly by though, I'll be looking at busy mornings before school before I know it. Right now, I typically start the day with a smoothie. Kevin ... continue reading...
Blood Orange Ricotta Mini Loaves
Miniature food is just cuter, it's a fact. Top some these adorable little mini blood orange ricotta loaves with a bright pink icing? I'm sold! I absolutely love my mini loaf pan for breads like this. I picked it up at Home Goods a few years ago and it's definitely been used frequently. If you don't have one of these pans, I highly recommend adding one to your cabinets. But even if you don't have one and aren't constantly looking for the next thing to add to your kitchen (like me), you can ... continue reading...
Buffalo Delicata Squash

Our tradition is to get take-out sushi and enjoy it on the couch, a tradition we started when Lleyton was just 5 weeks old his first Valentine's Day. Before having kids, Kevin and I only had one Valentine's Day together since we started dating. Either he was deployed, or I was deployed. We did enjoy one Valentine's Day together before Lleyton was born; it involved a failed trip to Bend, Oregon due to snow and an impromptu night spent ... continue reading...
Maraschino Cherry Chocolate Chip Brownies
A few months ago, I was brainstorming a brownie recipe to put on the blog. I tried different ingredients to "improve" upon classic brownies. I added a little baking powder or soda to see if I could make them fluffier, I added too much flour, reduced the butter and chocolate, and so many other brownie mistakes. Needless to say, they didn't turn out. They weren't inedible, but were more like a sad, flat chocolate cake. No one needs that. Consequently, I took a brownie hiatus. But I have ... continue reading...
