Frequently I'm asked where I find inspiration for my recipes and the answer varies. I'm inspired by other food bloggers, food magazines, cooking shows, restaurants, and hearing from those around me about dishes they've loved. A few weeks ago I was talking to my dad and he raved about a lasagna he had eaten recently. It was a vegetarian lasagna packed with vegetables, and instead of a red sauce it used a cream sauce. My dad is quite the cook himself, and as he went on about this roasted vegetable ... continue reading...
BBQ Bacon Baked Beans
We love and eat everything that I post on the blog, but one of the recipes that I'm most proud of is my recipe for homemade BBQ sauce. I've used it for my crock pot BBQ meatballs and my BBQ shrimp and grits, but I think these BBQ bacon baked beans are my new favorite use for it. I used three different kinds of beans in this recipe: great northern beans (which are similar to navy beans), small red kidney beans, and butter beans. I love the way all the different beans look and taste ... continue reading...
Red, White, and Blue Muffins
Can you believe that it's almost July?! I've always enjoyed the Fourth of July because it's such a fun and laid-back holiday. We're having a small group of friends over this year, ... continue reading...

It has three ingredients, which are all in the title, and two optional ingredients if your watermelon isn't very sweet and you need to amp up the flavor a little bit. I'm sharing this recipe anyways because it's very easy to be stuck in a recipe rut. Maybe you're hosting for the Fourth of July and want an easy side dish but aren't sure what to make. This watermelon, mint, and feta salad may be the easiest ... continue reading...
Ham and Spinach Mini Quiches
What is it about mini food that is just cuter? In this case, I think their size makes these ham and cheese quiches even more delicious. And possibly even easier! I used pre-made pie crust, and the cook time is significantly cut down. Because they're small, it even makes them freezer-friendly for quick weekday lunches. They're also perfect for a baby or bridal shower. Events like that are just easier if people can grab their own individual portions of what they want. It seems like no one ... continue reading...
