I’m so excited to be bringing you this sparkling spring sangria in time for the weekend! I’m working with my friend Jen of Grape Juice Mom again, as I did for three cocktails for the holiday season last year. You can find our Thanksgiving sangria, cranberry rosemary champagne cocktail, and grapefruit champagne punch in the blog archives. Jen is a West Point grad currently serving on active duty in the Army along with her husband. They’re a dual military couple raising two adorable girls, and she is an amazing resource for inexpensive wine and bubbly. She believes that good wine doesn’t need to be expensive and is a great resource to help you find the right bottle and teach you more about wine! She has been such a joy to work with, and I’m so thrilled to be working with her for this spring sangria made with prosecco, as well as a few drinks we have coming in May. Being pregnant I can’t drink this delicious beverage, but I have some friends locally who helped me out as taste-testers.
Here’s what Jen has to say about this sparkling spring sangria that we created together. “When Claire proposed a sparkling Sangria recipe for springtime, I was thrilled. Red and white Sangria’s are fairly common but I hadn’t seen a sparkling Sangria. We have a lot to celebrate in the Spring with Easter and Mother’s Day and bubbly is just the right wine for celebration! For a Sparkling Sangria, I recommended a Prosecco. Prosecco is an Italian sparkling wine and is known for having softer, smaller bubbles. The wine does not ferment in the bottle, so typically Prosecco is not aged. A quality bottle of Prosecco can be found for $15 or less and is ready to be drank immediately. Prosecco is a nice choice for a Sparkling Sangria as it will give you a subtle effervescence, the flavors won’t overpower the fruit, and your Sangria will be light-bodied.” Isn’t that amazing? I told her my vision and she gave me an affordable way to make it happen, and she can do that for you too for all your wine and bubbly needs.
I can’t think of an occasion this spring that this sangria wouldn’t be perfect for. Easter, Mother’s Day, bridal showers, or anything in between are all perfect occasions. This is light enough to enjoy for brunch but also delicious with lunch or dinner. Made with prosecco, peaches, and raspberries, it’s refreshing and delicious.
- 1 bottle prosecco
- ½ cup vodka
- ¾ cup peach juice or apple juice*
- 1 cup fresh or frozen sliced peaches*
- ¾ cup fresh raspberries
- In a large pitcher, combine prosecco, vodka, juice, peaches, and raspberries. Gently stir to combine.
- Since this is a sparkling sangria, to keep the effervescence it is best enjoyed immediately! However you can let it sit in the refrigerator for an hour or two if you don't mind a less bubbly beverage.
- Enjoy!
*I know peaches aren't quite in season yet, but frozen peaches are a great option to keep the beverage cold!
