Apples get a lot of love this time of year, but pears are also in season and so delicious. Pears are one of my favorite fruits and if I’m being honest, I prefer a pear pie or cobbler to an apple pie. The flavor is perfect and with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream and salted caramel drizzle, it’s a great dessert for this time of year. As you finish a meal with friends and enjoy this easy cobbler recipe, you can open a glass of your favorite Erath wine and enjoy the evening. It’s cozy and comforting and so easy to make, which means you get extra time to enjoy with your friends and family and are spending less time in the kitchen.
Perfectly ripe pears don’t require a lot of extra sugar, and they’ll be nice and juicy as they’re cooked. You can peel your pears like I did for this recipe, or leave them unpeeled, and place them in a baking dish. Then you’ll prepare your cobbler topping, which tastes like a sugar cookie. Baked until the top is golden brown and the pears are warm and bubbling, then drizzle with salted caramel sauce. Top with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, it’s the perfect fall dessert.
This recipe takes about 20 minutes to prep and then you just have to wait for it to bake before you’re diving in! If you’ve never tried pear cobbler, or pears in a dessert, trust me when I say that you should try this one. If you’re looking to add anything extra to this dessert, try adding a teaspoon of cinnamon or a squeeze of lemon juice to the pears to change the flavor profile of the recipe. Neither ingredient is necessary, but if the mood strikes and you happen to have them on hand, go ahead and try it!
I hope you enjoy this recipe with your favorite glass of Erath wine on a cozy winter evening!
