This is my final blog post before Christmas! I have so many delicious dishes that would be perfect for Christmas, and I wanted to leave you with a festive cocktail. This rosemary cranberry vodka spritz almost reminds you of a cosmopolitan, but with more wintery flavors. Cranberry juice, rosemary simple syrup, vodka, and a little bit of grapefruit sparkling water for bubbles make this a drink that’s just about perfect. Make one or make enough to serve a crowd, this rosemary cranberry vodka spritz is a recipe that you’ll make again and again.
Your first step is to make your rosemary simple syrup. In a saucepan, combine one cup of water, one cup of sugar, and 5-6 sprigs of rosemary. I love rosemary and I love a potent rosemary simple syrup, but if you want it to be more subtle you can always use less rosemary. Bring to a simmer for about 10 minutes, then strain. You will have more than enough simple syrup for this recipe, so feel free to refrigerate it and save it for the next time you’re craving this cranberry cocktail! You can also pour it into an ice cube tray to freeze and thaw anytime the cocktail craving strikes.
In a shaker, combine your vodka, cranberry juice, and rosemary simple syrup. Shake with ice until the glass is cold, then pour into a coupe glass. Top with grapefruit sparkling water, garnish with a few cranberries or a rosemary sprig, and enjoy!
