I’ve shared a lot of breakfast food here on the blog; plenty of baked goods and breakfast casseroles for every breakfast and brunch occasion are there for you! But not everyone eats gluten, or dairy, and sometimes you’re looking for something to serve alongside your other brunch dishes. Maybe you’re looking for something that you can make ahead and keep in your freezer as part of your meal prep. Either way, this maple breakfast sausage is here for you.
These sausage patties freeze like a dream. You can put them on breakfast sandwiches, or eat them alongside eggs or toast. They’re such a great way to get extra protein in your morning. We all have mornings that we’re rushed, and keeping these in your freezer makes sure you have a great option on even the busiest day.
These sausage patties are also perfect to serve if you’re hosting a big brunch. They’re a great addition to your breakfast casseroles and baked goods! This makes a nice big batch so go ahead and enjoy.
- 2 lbs. ground pork
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 tsp. ground dried sage
- 2 tsp. onion powder
- 1 tsp. ground dried thyme
- ⅓ cup pure maple syrup
- Oil for cooking
- In a large bowl, combine pork, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, sage, onion powder, thyme, and maple syrup. Using your hands, mix well to combine.
- Heat a thin layer of oil in a large frying pan or skillet. Form patties out of the pork mixture using your hands, and cook over medium low heat for 5-8 minutes per side until golden brown and internal temperature is 160 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Once cooked, remove from pan and transfer to a plate lined with paper towels. Continue until all sausage is cooked.
- Sausage can be enjoyed within a few days, or frozen for future use. Make sure you freeze with wax paper or parchment paper in between patties.
- Enjoy!
