I think my perfect lunch has got to be a chopped salad. When you’ve got a whole bunch of delicious ingredients chopped bite-sized and topped with a creamy delicious house vinaigrette, you’ve got the perfect lunch! I’ve ordered many chopped salads at restaurants over the years, one of my favorites is from a little restaurant that’s walking distance from my house. That means you can trust me when I say that this is the best of the best. There are so many ingredients that you can add to a salad recipe like this but I think we’ve narrowed it down to the best components.
Here’s what you need to make a delicious chopped salad!
- Chopped romaine lettuce
- Chickpeas
- Salami
- Cubed mozzarella cheese
- Banana peppers
- Olives
- Red bell pepper
- Grape or cherry tomatoes
There are so many ingredient options for a chopped salad but this recipe is tried and true. You might not get as excited about a salad as I do but this one really is delicious. It reminds me of a salad you’d get in a fancy pizza place! Serving this alongside wood-fired pizza with some local beers might be the perfect dinner to enjoy with friends.

- 1 head romaine lettuce, chopped into bite-sized pieces
- 1 can chickpeas, rinsed and drained
- ¾ cup salami, cut into thin strips
- 8 oz. mozzarella cheese, cubed
- ⅓ cup chopped banana peppers
- ⅓ cup sliced kalamata olives
- 1 red bell pepper, chopped
- 1 pint grape or cherry tomatoes, halved
- ⅓ cup olive oil
- ⅓ cup red wine vinegar
- ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
- ⅓ cup plain Greek yogurt
- ½ tsp. salt + more to taste
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 shallot, minced
- 2 tsp. honey
- Lots of freshly ground black pepper
- Place all the salad ingredients in a large bowl: lettuce, chickpeas, salami, mozzarella cheese, banana peppers, olives, red pepper, and tomatoes.
- To a food processor or high-speed blender, add the dressing ingredients: olive oil, red wine vinegar, parmesan cheese, yogurt, salt, garlic, shallot, honey, and black pepper. Blend until smooth.
- Toss the salad with the dressing and serve immediately topped with more parmesan cheese and freshly ground black pepper.
- Enjoy!
