I love grapefruit in cocktails! Really any cocktail that’s good and sour is perfect for me. A margarita, mojito or Moscow mule with extra lime juice is perfect for me. I’m so excited to be bringing you this grapefruit champagne punch just in time for New Years Eve, because this cocktail is the perfect way to ring in the new year. I made this cocktail in partnership with my friend Jen of Grape Juice Mom and it is my third cocktail that I’ve made with her this holiday season! You can find the first two drinks that I made with her here and here.
As always, I was able to tell Jen the cocktail that I had in mind and she gave me the perfect bubbly to go with it. Grapefruit can be a strong flavor, and she selected the perfect prosecco to pair with it. Add in some elderflower liquor and vodka and you have the perfect champagne punch! Here’s what Jen has to say about the prosecco that she selected.
When Claire told me that she was considering a grapefruit cocktail for New Year’s Eve, I knew that Prosecco was the best fit. There are four types of bubble (Champagne, sparkling wine, Cava, and Prosecco) and Prosecco is the most delicate an affordable price point. Prosecco is known for soft, subtle bubbles, unlike a powerful Champagne or sparkling wine and often at a great price point! When adding a strong citrus juice like grapefruit, a powerful bubble in the wine could be overwhelming. However, Prosecco gives a subtle effervescence to compliment the citrus. Happy New Year!
This grapefruit champagne punch is the perfect drink to ring in the new year, or to enjoy anytime you’re looking for a bright and fun cocktail!

- ¼ cup vodka
- ½ cup elderflower liquor

- Carefully pour in the prosecco and gently stir until just combined. Alternatively, you can pour the grapefruit/vodka/liquor mixture into glasses and top with the prosecco.
