I know cottage cheese is in everything right now, but I’ve love it for years so I’m happy to let it have its moment! I love a bowl of cottage cheese with berries and a drizzle of honey, or a savory bowl with tomatoes, cucumbers, avocado, and everything but the bagel seasoning. But what’s really genius about cottage cheese is blending it for a way to get extra protein and creaminess into a recipe. I created my high-protein queso dip this fall that is a new favorite of ours and uses the blended cottage cheese method. As someone who wants something sweet every single night, this high-protein cottage cheese chocolate mousse is the perfect healthy treat. We are using a food processor to blend the cottage cheese with just a few other ingredients and can have your own little jars of goodness ready for whenever your sweet tooth strikes.
Ingredients for Cottage Cheese Chocolate Mousse
- Cottage cheese: The cottage cheese gives this mousse recipe its creaminess and packs in protein.
- Cocoa powder: For that classic chocolate flavor. For extra protein, I also add in a little chocolate protein powder or collagen.
- Honey or pure maple syrup: Either one will work well, we just need something for sweetness.
- Vanilla extract: Vanilla helps bring out the chocolate flavor and is a must for this recipe. Since this recipe has just a few ingredients, use pure vanilla extract for best flavor.
- Whipped cream and berries for topping: Strawberries are in season and a perfect choice but raspberries and blueberries would also be delicious.
