It’s been a while since we’ve done a cocktail Friday! I wanted to make a fall cocktail with apple cider in it, and I do love a good margarita, so these apple cider margaritas were born. These are unlike any margarita you’ve had before. With the apple cider and orange juice, they’re a little more sweet than tart. Instead of agave or simple syrup, I use maple syrup for a sweetness that also gives a hint of fall flavor. Of course, this recipe still uses tequila, triple sec or Grand Marnier, and lime juice. The best part about this recipe? The cinnamon sugar rim. I love salt on the rim of a traditional margarita but this cinnamon sugar rim is perfection.
When I give ingredients for cocktails, I like to give you the quantities needed for both an individual serving and a pitcher. Because when it comes to margaritas, a pitcher is always a good idea. These apple cider margaritas are perfect to enjoy all fall long, and they’re even a great option for Thanksgiving! I know a margarita isn’t a typical cocktail for the holiday, but I promise you that everyone will love these and they are worth making.
Putting a cinnamon sugar rim on your drink is easy. Before filling the glass, run a wedge of lime around the rim. Then tip it upside down on plate or shallow dish filled with cinnamon sugar. That’s it! Then I carefully add some ice to the glass and pour my margarita over it. I liked this cinnamon sugar rim so much that I would add a new rim before refilling my glass! It’s not something you want to skimp on. For this recipe, use your favorite tequila. I’m pretty simple when it comes to tequila and use Jose Cuervo silver. When you’re mixing a tequila in a margarita like this one, there’s no need for anything expensive. I hope you enjoy this festive fall cocktail!
