Cheddar Chive Buttermilk Biscuits

Ingredients
  • 2½ cups all purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tbsp. sugar
  • ½ cup cold butter, cut into pieces
  • ¾ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ⅓ cup snipped chives
  • 1 cup buttermilk
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  3. Using a pastry cutter or two forks, cut the butter into the flour mixture.
  4. Mix in cheddar cheese and chives.
  5. Add buttermilk mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  6. Place the biscuit mixture on a flour surface and press into a large rectangle. Fold the left and right thirds over the center third and gently press again until dough is about 1½ inches thick.
  7. Using a biscuit cutter or a drinking glass, cut biscuits and place onto an ungreased baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
