Marischino Cherry Chocolate Chip Brownies

Ingredients
  • ¾ cup melted butter
  • 1¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 4 oz. semi-sweet chocolate, melted and cooled
  • ¾ cup + 2 tbsp. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder
  • ¾ cup whole marischino cherries
  • ½ cup chocolate chips
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Spray an 8 x 8 baking dish or pan with nonstick cooking spray and line with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy brownie removal.
  2. Whisk melted butter and sugar together in a large bowl. Add eggs and vanilla and whisk again. Add chocolate and whisk until just combined.
  3. Pat cherries dry with a paper towel and toss with 2 tbsp. flour
  4. In a medium bowl, whisk together ¾ cup flour, salt, and cocoa powder.
  5. Pour flour mixture into wet ingredients and stir until just combined.*
  6. Fold flour-coated cherries and chocolate chips into batter.
  7. Bake for 22-26 minutes until set and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Let brownies fully cool in pan before removing and slicing.
  9. Enjoy!
Notes
*I think this is THE singular most important thing to note with brownies. If you overmix, you'll have cakey brownies.
